Matthew was Chief Executive of the RSA from 2006-2021 and Chief Adviser on Political Strategy to Prime Minister Tony Blair, leading the no. 10 Policy Unit. Prior to that he had been Director of the Institute for Public Policy Research between 1999 and 2003. He has written numerous articles and is a regular panellist on Radio 4’s Moral Maze and public speaker on topics including public service reform, social trends and education policy. Mathew is currently CEO of the NHS Confederation.
